What
is a Hidden Mickey?
|
Hidden Mickey’s are
the result of an inside joke among Walt Disney
Imagineers, the artists and engineers who design Disney parks and
attractions. "Hidden Mickeys" are made up of silhouettes and
abstract images of Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters which are
hidden throughout each Disney Park. Hunting down Hidden Mickeys
has become
a pastime with many Disney guests.
The Imagineers have
Hidden Mickeys in every new attraction or hotel,
hiding silhouettes, profiles, and other images of Mickey Mouse in
murals, queue areas, shows, films and within the rides
themselves.
Hunting for Hidden
Mickeys adds a fun dimension to your visit to the
Disney Parks. It provides a fun diversion to another day at
Disneyland and lets you spend your time in lines and as you tour the
parks with a purpose. Some people use them as scavenger hunts
which may be more fun for teens and parents than going on just another
ride.
This book is your
guide. There are several hundred Hidden Mickeys in
this book. It is organized by by major areas of the park: Main
Street, Frontierland, Fantasyland, New Orleans, etc...and then by
ride. Within a ride, we attempt to put them in the order you
would find them from beginning to end.
There is a
published book for Hidden Mickey’s of Disneyworld.
This book is independent from that and is focused on Disneyland in
Anaheim, CA.
BUT... both parks
have very similar Hidden Mickey's so this book will be useful for Walt
Disney World as well
Here is a sample
from the book for the Peter Pan ride:
Peter Pan’s Flight
- When you are in line for Peter Pan, look at the
mural on the
wall.
The skull's eyes and nose form a Hidden Mickey.
- If you look closely you'll notice there's a
picture of Mickey
Mouse
on the wall of the nursery.
- In Wendy, Jon and Michael’s Room right as you
enter the Darling
family nursery there are some alphabet building blocks stacked up on
the floor (one group is by Wendy's bed, the other by the window as you
exit the room). The letter blocks in the children's nursery actually
spell out PETER PAN. If the letters are facing front, only the P
in PETER is fully visible, as the PAN blocks hide the rest of the name.
- When you fly into London there are clouds on
the wall. Look
closely
and there are 2 Hidden Mickey's side by side.
- As you’re flying over London you will see the
moon off in the
distance, three of the craters are set up in Mickey's shape.
- On the boat in the Peter Pan ride, Captain
Hook's ear has a
Donald
Duck head.
There is
no other book dedicated to Hidden
Mickeys of
Disneyland.
